What does 600 GSM mean?

GSM is grams per square metre, the weight of the fabric. 600 GSM is the density hotels specify: heavy enough to dry you in one pass, light enough to dry itself between uses. Below 500 GSM a towel starts to feel thin within a season.

What is the difference between percale and sateen?

Percale is a one over one weave that is crisp, matte and cool against the skin. Sateen floats more threads on the surface for a softer drape and a subtle lustre that holds a little more warmth. Neither is better. Percale suits hot sleepers and warm months. Sateen suits those who like weight and a softer hand.

Is your cotton really Egyptian?

Yes. The cotton is grown in the Nile Delta and the goods are woven and finished in Egypt. We are not importing and relabelling.

Does thread count matter?

Less than it is made to seem. Beyond roughly 800, higher counts are usually achieved by twisting several thin threads together and counting each one. Staple length and weave matter more than the number on the box.

How should I wash my towels?

At 40C to 60C, with half the usual detergent, and never with fabric softener. Softener coats the loops in a waterproof film and stops them absorbing. Full instructions are on our Care Guide.
